Dr Sasan Rasi, originally from Iran, received his doctorate degree of medical laboratory sciences in 1994 from Tabriz University. After seven years of medical laboratory practice and university teaching, Sasan did his 2nd doctoral studies and research at the institute of clinical genetics in TU-Dresden, Germany.
He then moved to Australia in 2007 and took up a position as a PGD scientist at Monash IVF. Here, he continued his professional career in the molecular and molecular-cytogenetic diagnosis. Meanwhile, pursuing his passion for teaching by lecturing "Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis” and “Transport PGD” at Monash University.
In 2016, Sasan was appointed as a member of the animal ethics and later human ethics committee at Latrobe University to support academic research, while he shifted his practice interests from laboratory bench work to vocational teaching and training. He works effectively to transfer his knowledge and extensive experience to the next generation of scientists and technicians in Australian accredited courses for both national and transnational institutions.
In 2018, Sasan moved to Box Hill Institute and is currently teaching laboratory technology courses in the local and offshore campuses.
